M0070 Pre-Production Preamps Sold Out

21 January, 2011

I'm pleased to report that I have sold the last M0070 that I had for sale. Thank you to all my customers who have purchased one of these and especially those of you that have provided me with suggestions to improve the design of my preamps.

Production QBG1 and QBG2 preamps released and ready to ship!

21 June, 2010

After months of cleaning up details, the QualityBassGear QBG1 preamp is finally ready and in stock. My first production run is quite small but the next run is being planned. The main change between the production version and the final version is that the production version is housed in a durable powder-coated aluminum enclosure instead of wood. It's simply a matter of economics: aluminum lends itself better to volume manufacturing and is almost as light as the wood was. For those that really want the wood, I will be offering it as deluxe option at a slightly higher price. It will only be available through the web and will be custom-made, so it could take a week or two to ship.

I am also releasing a "less is more" version called the QBG2. It retains the key controls but eliminates the EQ, DI and is housed in a smaller enclosure. By reducing the amount of audio processing, its distortion and noise performance is even better than the QBG1.

We will no longer be selling piezo pickups

7 April, 2010

It is with some regret that I have decided to stop manufacturing and selling my own pickups. This business decision was based on a number of factors. A major reason is that because of patents I can't sell to the US, but I am also short on time and need to focus on what I do best, which is design electronics.

Pickups no longer available for sale to the United States

3 March, 2010

It has been brought to my attention that my pickups potentially infringe on other parties patents. I respect the effort and investment they have put into protecting their intellectual property and will no longer offer these products for sale to US customers. This also applies to combos.

Preamp + Pickup Combos Now Available

20 January, 2010

I've had several requests for a "package deal" with a preamp and pickup. This makes sense so you can now get an M0070 preproduction preamp and a QBG10 pickup for under $200. How can you go wrong?

After extensive research and experimentation, we are very pleased to announce that we now manufacture and sell our own piezo pickups. We have both "Realist" and "Underwood" style pickups available. Both types feature a fully shielded transducer element, lightweight shielded coaxial cable, and real wood construction.
